Adriano Celentano born January 6, 1938 in Milan. Celentano is an Italian musician, singer, composer, actor, filmmaker and TV host. Celentano has released many record albums which have enjoyed enormous commercial and critical success. With approximately 150 million records sold worldwide, he ranks as the second best-selling Italian musical artist.

Heavily influenced by his idol, Elvis Presley, and the 1950s rock revolution, he is also known as the most famous dancer of the Hula hoop fad, he is affectionately known as il Molleggiato (the springy one) due to his energetic dancing style.

For the last 40 years he has retained his popularity in Italy, selling millions of records and appearing in numerous TV shows and movies. Celentano has appeared in 39 films, primarily in comedic roles. Notable films include “La Dolce Vita”, where Federico Fellini cast him as a rock and roll singer.For the most part, his films were commercially successful, in fact in the 1970s and part of the 1980s, he was the king of the Italian box office in low budget movies. As a film director, he frequently worked with actresses such as Ornella Muti, Eleonora Giorgi, and his wife, Claudia Mori. He has also been a creator of a comic genre, with his characteristic walking and his facial expressions.

Before launching his music career, Celentano worked as a watchmaker. Adriano Celentano’s impact on Italian culture and entertainment remains enduring, making him one of the pillars of Italian music. His last concert-event in 2012, after 18 years without live performances, was transmitted on Canale 5, with over 9 million viewers both evenings.
