Howard Andrew Williams known as Andy Williams (December 3, 1927 in Wall Lake, Iowa, United States – September 25, 2012) was an American singer. He recorded 43 albums in his career, of which 15 have been gold certified and 3 platinum certified. Sold more than 45 million records worldwide. The song was first introduced as an instrumental theme in the 1970 film Love Story.
Love Story is an American romantic drama written by Erich Segal, who was also the author of the best-selling 1970 novel of the same name, and starred Ali MacGraw and Ryan O’Neal.
He had his own TV variety show from 1962–71 in which he performed with Michael Jackson, Bobby Darin, Ray Charles, Elton John, Linda Ronstadt, Ella Fitzgerald, Simon & Garfunkel, Shirley Bassey, Bing Crosby, Dusty Springfield, Perry Como, Frank Sinatra, Aretha Franklin, Carpenters, Bette Davis, Dean Martin, Julie Andrews, Ronald Reagan and many other.
Andy Williams had built a $12 million state-of-the-art theater, which opened in 1992 and was christened the Andy Williams Moon River Theater. He died at age 84 in Branson, Missouri on September 25, 2012.
