Saygrace, born Grace Sewell on April 8, 1997, in Brisbane, Australia, is an Australian singer and songwriter. She is best known for her cover of Lesley Gore’s 1963 hit “You Don’t Own Me,” which she recorded with rapper G-Eazy and was produced by Quincy Jones and Parker Ighile. This song became a number-one hit in Australia.
Grace grew up in a musical family; her grandparents toured with the Bee Gees, and her brother, Conrad Sewell, is also a well-known singer. She started her career in 2015, signing with RCA Records and releasing her debut EP, Memo, in 2016. Her debut studio album, FMA (Forgive My Attitude), was released the same year.
In 2019, she rebranded herself as SayGrace and released the single “Boys Ain’t Shit”. Her EP, The Defining Moments of SayGrace: Girlhood, Fuckboys & Situationships, was released in February 2020.
The EP includes the popular track “Boys Ain’t Shit”, which became quite a hit. The EP explores themes of personal growth, relationships, and empowerment, divided into sections that reflect different emotional stages.
