How to Get to Naxos, Greece
By Air:
If you’re flying into Athens International Airport Eleftherios Venizelos, you can catch a direct flight to Naxos with Aegean Airlines-Olympic Air or Sky Express. Keep in mind that booking in advance is advisable due to limited space. The travel time by airplane is approximately 1 hour.
Alternatively, if you’re arriving at the nearby islands of Mykonos or Santorini, you can connect to Naxos by sea. Frequent ferry and catamaran services are available from both islands to Naxos.
By Sea:
From Athens (Piraeus): Most Greeks prefer this route due to space availability and frequent timetables. Ferries and high-speed catamarans operate between Piraeus and Naxos. The ferry journey takes around 5.5 to 6 hours, while the high-speed hydrofoil takes 3.5 to 4 hours.
From Rafina: In the summer months, Rafina (about 30-45 minutes by car from Athens International Airport) also has boats departing to the Cyclades, including Naxos. Note that there is no direct express bus from the airport to Rafina.
From Other Cycladic Islands: You can easily reach Naxos from other Cycladic islands such as Mykonos, Santorini, and Paros.
