Harry Nilsson, born Harry Edward Nilsson III on June 15, 1941, in Brooklyn, New York, was an American singer-songwriter known for his unique voice and innovative musical style.

He moved to Los Angeles as a teenager to escape his family’s poor financial situation.

While working as a computer programmer at a bank, he grew interested in musical composition and close-harmony singing, and was successful in having some of his songs recorded by various artists such as the Monkees.

He achieved significant success in the early 1970s with hits like “Without You,” “Coconut,” and “Everybody’s Talkin'”.

Harry Nilsson was known for his pioneering vocal overdub experiments and his ability to blend different musical genres.

Despite his fame, Nilsson rarely performed live concerts and was known for his reclusive nature.

Nilsson formed close friendships with The Beatles, particularly John Lennon and Ringo Starr, and was even dubbed “the American Beatle”.

Nilsson’s career was marked by both critical acclaim and personal struggles, including issues with alcohol.

He passed away on January 15, 1994, in Agoura Hills, California, but his music continues to influence and inspire artists today.
